Today I created a blank template for Joomla! 1.5. My main purpose for creating the template was to give myself a basis for creating future templates, since it contains the basic necessary files for creating a template. This template loads the component and the "debug" module position. There are no CSS styles in the template.css file, but the file is referenced in the index.php file. The template is released under the GPL, so feel free to use it however you want in accordance with the GPL.
Click here to download the template.

I have just started to have a look through the files... I have used your basic red spheres template before, but it never reached production unfortunately...
As I understand it you have sorted the different parts of code into subfolders - and then it is just to add the parts one need in the index.php of the template?
I have been designing pages in html and css for the most part, and is really frustrated at all the NOISE in most joomla templates. What I want and need is something very basic that I can build on.
I hope it will be possible to use this as a basis and perhaps use the forum as support?
Wiill do some testing now - and hopefully this is the way forward....

Just installed it locally - and it is just the thing I need!
The only thing I need to sort out is how to add just a few features - like a main menu...

I just wanted to say thanks, because I have been sufing the net in search for exactly what you are offering for a long time. I am newbie with Joomla!, but still, I want "piano piano" to learn how to make templates. This site is quite a lovely surprise, and will be visiting a lot.

Thanks for this.
I created a section named it "intro". then created a category named it "intro" then created an article named it "intro".
No wysiwyg editor i inserted my flash intro into the article and then created a menu item for the intro. then i assigned your blank template to that menu item only and HEY PRESTO!! My Joomla Intro.
Thanks!
