Can somebody here explain in simple english the difference between creating a site by the traditional methods and what joomla does? I am really confused.

Normally i create sites by creating html pages and other pages (css, xml) , database etc and then i upload the files to a host. Thats it.

with joomla!: What I have understood is that:

-you have a mysql database for the content of the site

-file folder for templates

Then you upload these to a joomla supported host

What happens if you want to create a whole new site?

-Do you have to install joomla software again? For exempel locally on the computer?
