In How to Lose the Splash Page, I talk about how to move your Joomla! installation between directories on your server. Because the topic was buried in the "Read more..." section of the post, there may be some readers who ignored it or did not read it. If you want to know how to do this, click on over to How to Lose the Splash Page, and scroll down to "Option 1: How to Move Your Installation".

Cory,
Is it really as simple to make the transfer as you say it is? Moving the files across and changing the configuration file? I am the web administrator for my Student Radio Station and our website is built on Joomla. I have built a new website on smokeradio.co.uk/beta - will it not go tits-up if I follow these instructions, and if I back up the main page, will it still work if I have to put it back because the transfer of /beta doesn't work? These are tense times for me, as a radio station that only broadcasts online - the website is our only platform to get people listening. If this goes tits up, I am going to have alot to answer for. Any advice? 6 report abuse
