Trackback for Joomla! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Cory
Thursday, 02 November 2006

I just got an e-mail about the new version of JomComment, and apparently the newest version (version 1.7) supports Trackbacks. Trackback allows other sites to notify your site that they have written an article based on your content. Trackback support is one of the main "blog" features missing from Joomla!, and JomComment has finally made it available!

I am running JomComment here, and I will be upgrading to the new version as soon as I get a chance. If you have JomComment, you should upgrade to the latest version. If not, I strongly recommend that you get this product. I have been very pleased with it here at HowToJoomla.

Interesting that your TrackBack URL for this doesn't work. smilies/wink.gif I get an error message saying it isn't properly configured.

Yes, I agree, it is a tool that is missing on the original Joomla installation. I'm going to give it a try and see if it works.

By the way, Did you notice that Azrul website was hacked?

Hector

I just saw that their site got hacked. I'm sure they will be able to fix it pretty quickly. I wonder what the vulnerability was.

JomComment is only for accepting TrackBack requests. Is there any solutions that allows you to request a TrackBack link to your own blog?

For those looking for a way to request trackback links to your own blog you can download a component at https://joomlatrackback.bountysource.com/downloads. This component provides a form where you can input the trackback link to send the notification. It is not integrated with your blog. But if you are like me and waiting for MyBlog to re-instate the trackback support, it gives you one way implement trackbacks while you wait.

About HowToJoomla

HowToJoomla was started in September 2006 by me, Cory Webb, a long-time Mambo/Joomla user with a desire to give back to the community that has given so much to him.

HowToJoomla is not the best, most comprehensive Joomla tips site out there. That's not the goal. The goal is to share some of the knowledge and experience that I have gained through years of using the world's best content managment system. I hope that you will find this site useful and visit often. As I come across new tips and ideas, I will post them here for all to see.

I hope you enjoy using HowToJoomla and find it very useful.

Please take some time to read the Disclaimer.

Thanks for visiting!

About Me

I am a 28-year-old husband and father of a beautiful baby girl named Lucy. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from Baylor University, and over 4 years experience working with the Mambo/Joomla CMS.

On February 1, 2008, I started a web design, development, and consulting company specializing in designing and developing custom Joomla-powered websites. The new company is aptly named Cory Webb Media, LLC. The double meaning is purely unintentional, but with a last name like "Webb" it is difficult to escape the obvious puns. If you are looking for professional assistance with your website, please feel free to contact me to discuss your project.

I also run HowToJoomla, CoryWebb.com (my personal website/blog), and JoomlaForm.com (a site dedicated to promoting good design in the Joomla! community). In my spare time (if there is such a thing), I volunteer with the youth ministry at my church.
