JoomlaShack Developer Club

I have been working with JoomlaShack for a year-and-a-half, and you could not ask for a better group of people to work with. They have recently announced the JoomlaShack Developer Club, which is a way for professional web developers to use JoomlaShack's high-quality Joomla! templates on unlimited domains, have access to a private developer section of the JoomlaShack forums, gain Professional Developer status on the JoomlaShack forums, and have access to JoomlaShack's top notch educational resources. The cost of $499/year may seem steep for the average user, but this program is not aimed at the average user. For a professional developer, the time and money saved by using JoomlaShack's templates more than make up the cost of joining the club. I highly recommend this club, not only for the great features, but for the opportunity to work with a great group of people. Join here.

Nice way of grabbing money from public. Sounds like big pitch for money. Lots of bull. smilies/angry.gif

If you really want to help public then do it as a free service.

Hi Mike,

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I have to respectfully disagree with your opinion. There are professional web developers all over the world who make their living providing services using Joomla. JoomlaShack's Developer Club is aimed at them, not at the general public. This is a great value for professional developers, in my opinion.

Also, just because Joomla is open source and "free", that does not mean that companies cannot develop a business model around Joomla. In fact, a member of the core team runs RocketTheme, which offers a similar package to the one JoomlaShack is offering.

JoomlaShack does offer loads of free material for the general public. In fact, they are one of the most freely-giving companies you will find in the Joomla community.

Also, just to clarify, I am not an employee of JoomlaShack. I am a freelance developer, and I provide custom services for JoomlaShack's clients. In the time that I have worked with them, I have gained a very high opinion of them and their ethical standards. Yes, they are trying to make money, but every company is trying to make money. It's what keeps them going and helps feed the families of the owners and employees of the company.

Thanks for stopping by.
Cory

Hi Mike,

I must admit confusion at your comment. I do not understand under what scenario you think we should give away our entire company away for free, all our templates and unrestricted licensing....

Can you point me to another business, Joomla or otherwise that does this?

Please feel free to email me directly at barrie[at]joomlashack.com

About HowToJoomla

HowToJoomla was started in September 2006 by me, Cory Webb, a long-time Mambo/Joomla user with a desire to give back to the community that has given so much to him.

HowToJoomla is not the best, most comprehensive Joomla tips site out there. That's not the goal. The goal is to share some of the knowledge and experience that I have gained through years of using the world's best content managment system. I hope that you will find this site useful and visit often. As I come across new tips and ideas, I will post them here for all to see.

I hope you enjoy using HowToJoomla and find it very useful.

Please take some time to read the Disclaimer.

Thanks for visiting!

About Me

I am a 28-year-old husband and father of a beautiful baby girl named Lucy. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from Baylor University, and over 4 years experience working with the Mambo/Joomla CMS.

On February 1, 2008, I started a web design, development, and consulting company specializing in designing and developing custom Joomla-powered websites. The new company is aptly named Cory Webb Media, LLC. The double meaning is purely unintentional, but with a last name like "Webb" it is difficult to escape the obvious puns. If you are looking for professional assistance with your website, please feel free to contact me to discuss your project.

I also run HowToJoomla, CoryWebb.com (my personal website/blog), and JoomlaForm.com (a site dedicated to promoting good design in the Joomla! community). In my spare time (if there is such a thing), I volunteer with the youth ministry at my church.
